Radiohead + MTV v. Child Slavery
MTV Exit and Radiohead have teamed up to produce an awareness video about child slavery. It’s no Charlie Bit Me, but it’s worth a view.

Blame the ‘Artiste’ for the atrocities you see befall your fellow ‘human’ everyday, as you peruse advertising in magazines and newspapers; or even pass by on the street. There’s no telling where the next Photoshop horror might present itself, just long enough to ensure it will haunt your dreams with visions of super-long arms holding the newest in sony-gut technology. Thankfully, some dude named Eddie seems to have found a blogspot where we can convene and share these issues out in the open. It helps.

Leafing through our WIRED mag here at the studio, we came across a great article on the history of the ‘flight attendant’ or ’stewardess’, to some of us of olden times. These gals continue to invoke curiosity and wonderment of of that which is the unnaturally-fibered and go-go-booted ideal of fantasy femininity. Needless to say, this remains a favorite subject of at least one (ahem) design-minded Hyperaktivist here, who shall remain nameless. For now. Enjoy Deroy!

Inspired by our love for serious cocktails, rock & roll and graphic design, we bring to you a set of four limited edition coasters. Each of the coasters contain a finely engineered recipe by our friends and favorite NYC mixologists, Joaquin Simo of Death & Company and Nate Dumas of Public. The set is lovingly letterpressed by our friends at Press New York.
You can now get your hands on these in one of two ways. If you want them for free, send us an email correctly identifying the rock band logo that inspired each of the four coasters. Make sure to include your name and address so we know where to send them.
If you want them right now, no questions asked, you can get them here:
It is true that I am slightly obsessed. I do love the ampersand. But amidst the slosh of typographic nerds that float the design-y seas, I may be the least of the amper-lovers.

For one, I do not have the appropriate ink. And while half my identity is wrapped up in its form, I have been surprised at the passion of others for its form and history.
I will spare you the backstory of the ampersand (found on Wikipedia and most of the following links), and get to the fun stuff.
My first discovery, a couple months back was the lovely flickr group, Ampersandland. This pool, a collection of found instances of the form is a real visual treat (at least for the obsessed), one to check in with every now and then. Then, received with a wide smile from Duane King at BBDK, came this gem: The Ampersand Blog! Here you will find everything pertaining to the ampersand, from written documentation to its less attractive iterations. The gods of type design, Hoefler [ampersand] Frere-Jones also pay homage to the mark with a descriptive entry on the history of the ampersand and it’s place within their type families. Even Adobe takes a stab at the subject, with an educational page on their site.
No thanks to this club(!?) for the worst bastardization of the symbol ever.
