Radiohead never ceases to amaze. Their new video for “House of Cards” bypasses cameras altogether in favor of Geometric Informatics and Velodyne Lidar. What the f%*^k is that, you say.

“The Geometric Informatics scanning system employs structured light to capture detailed 3D images at close proximity, and was used to render the performances of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, the female lead, and several partygoers. The Velodyne Lidar system uses multiple lasers to capture large environments in 3D, in this case 64 lasers rotating and shooting in a 360 degree radius 900 times per minute, capturing all of the exterior scenes and wide party shots.”

Of course.

Byrne + Dizzee + BPA = SFW

Who would have ever thought David Byrne would join forces with Dizzee Rascal!? Great song, despite the seemingly impossible pair-up. Love it!

And sorry, I know nothing about BPA.

HyperSubjective

Rosemary Hahn | , | Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

So, we recently sent out a survey to our clients. Among other things, we were wondering what 80’s power ballads came to mind when they thought of us, and what they thought Hyperakt could be if not a design studio. It’s really interesting to see what people think. Also, it’s a good way to find out what music might get them ‘in the mood’. Here’s some of the results.

hyperhair.jpg

If Hyperakt were an 80’s power ballad, which would it be?
1. ‘I’d Do Anything For Love’ - Meatloaf
2. ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’
3. Tina Turner’s ‘The Best’
4. ‘Cherry Pie’, ‘Sister Christian’, or any of Whitesnake’s gems…maybe ‘Home Sweet Home’ by Motley Crue
5. What is a power ballad?
6. ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ by Foreigner
7. ‘We Are The Champions!’
8. ‘Sister Christian’ :)

If you didn’t know Hyperakt was a design studio and you saw or heard the name, what would you think it was?
1. Childhood disease
2. A communications company or energy delivery :)
3. One of those shows like Della Guarda or Smilla’s Snow Show
4. A superstar drum and bass dj duo, which may not be as bad as it sounds.
5. I’d think you guys were movie or sound production studio
6. A very rushed acting studio.
7. Some kind of energy drink
8. Geez, this is really going to date me but having had a hyperactive child, I would think (or hope) it was a special day group.
10. Software or something interactive/digital based

New Radiohead. Nuff Said.

Rosemary Hahn | | Monday, October 1st, 2007

The new Radiohead album, In Rainbows, is set to be released on Oct. 10 for downloading; while their box set will be available by Dec. 3. We checked out some of the new songs via live performances they did during their Summer tour in ‘06, click to see/hear for yourself.
After listening to just a few bars, we decided that we already loved it. Hey, they just as easily could’ve finally sucked. Let us hope it never comes to that.

Also, check this out.

Extra info, including possible album art, on the boys’ own website.

and if you’re as obsessed as we are, check out the album’s site.
