How are products chosen?

Generally, these are our guidelines for choosing products: 1) It must be an example of excellent design, 2) We must love it, 3) It must be independently designed, 4) No other shop in the neighborhood (Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill) must carry it while we do. 4) It must fit in our space (the shop occupies a space shared by our design studio, so the space is not large). New products also need to fit in well with our current lineup. If we really love your work, but it doesn't work with the current lineup, we will work with you to schedule its inclusion at a future date. All products are sold on consignment.

Are there any products you're especially interested in at the moment?

Yes. Custom t-shirts, ready-to-wear, jewelry, small personal products or objects, paper goods, books, zines.

What do I have to do to sell my products at Hypermarket?

The first step is introducing us to your work. Send us an email telling us a little bit about yourself, give us a link to your website or include a pdf with images of your work. Include a list of shops that currently sell your products if any. We get lots of emails on a daily basis, so please don't be offended if you don't hear back from us. We will only reply if we'd like to sell your products at Hypermarket. Just being honest.

How does consignment work?

Basically, it works like a gallery. You lend us your work. We display and promote it. You get paid an agreed to amount when we sell your work. If your work has not been sold during its stay with us, we give it back. You are responsible for the shipping costs of sending us the work and having it sent back. All this is put in writing in the form of a contract for your records and ours.

Do you accept international consignments?

Yes. As long as your work is good, and you can get it to us, we don't care where you are. You will be paid fo your work via Paypal. You are responsible for the shipping costs of sending us the work and having it sent back.

What's your markup?

The numbers vary depending on each piece. We always consult the designer for their suggested retail and wholesale prices.

How do I get paid?

If you live in the United States, we will pay you with a check within 30 days of a sale. If you live outside of the United States you will be paid via Paypal.
