We recently noticed the lack of fresh vegetables in the surrounding neighborhood after a few supermarkets gave way to mega-pharmacies and decided to create a proposal for a weekend fresh fruit and vegetable market across the street from our studio. There is a very wide sidewalk across the street from the studio next to the elevated subway tracks that is very underused. We felt it would be perfect for a market. While the green markets group didn't agree with the location, the effort was influential in bringing a weekend market to a nearby location in the neighborhood at Carroll Park.
