The Evolution of the Web

These days, it's hard to imagine a world without videos, photos, web apps and awesome interactive content all over the web. The web has come a long way over the last 20 years and innovation is accelerating. The Google Chrome Team wanted to pay tribute to the open web community for the great technological progress that makes all the great content on the web possible.

Based on a static infographic created by mgmt. design and GOOD in 2010, The Google Chrome Team asked us to create an updated interactive piece illustrating the evolution of web technology. Hyperakt focused on designing user interactions that make the visualization a valuable reference tool for the web community. Each browser's evolution is illustrated with screen captures of their various versions and many technologies are each linked to extensive definitions, all available in six languages.

We were fortunate enough to work with the fantastic team at Vizzuality who brought the designs to life through their elegant HTML5 development. The result is a fluid and responsive immersive trip through the history of the web.
