American public libraries & community internet access

There is no question that the internet has become an indispensable resource in today's society. From employment to education, countless Americans rely on this modern innovation for day-to-day living. The problem is, not everyone is fortunate enough to have access.

This is where American public libraries step in. Today, more than 99% offer free internet, a service so popular that nearly 1 in every 3 Americans take advantage of it. However, as demand continues to increase, libraries are struggling to maintain the quality of their services due to shortages in funding.

This infographic, created for Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and U.S. Libraries, illustrates the value of free internet access in libraries and why they're in critical need of funding.
