Nikon Illumination

The Illumination concept originated at DiNoto. Nikon is a respected brand among photo professionals but it wanted to do more to engage and inspire its community of enthusiasts to share their experience with a larger audience. Illumination creates the venue to share photo content and knowledge in a community setting. Using issues of universal social concern as subject matter, and incorporating survey questions, maps, and charts to add depth to the photography being shared, the site was intended to form a living, breathing sociopolitical atlas.

DiNoto brought in Hyperakt creative director Deroy Peraza to work on this project as part of their in-house creative team. He worked very intensely on this project for months, performing research and helping to flesh out the concepts established at DiNoto under the creative direction and leadership of CEO/Creative Director Greg DiNoto. While at DiNoto, he designed the user interface for all the sections of the site and developed extensive site specification documents in preparation for the site's development.

Note: This project is entirely credited to DiNoto. The project was unfortunately put on hold due to the economic climate.
