The role

Full-time
Location: NYC or Remote USA, Eastern Time Zone

Our project managers are the operational backbone of the team, as well as creative partners, strategic thinkers, and technology champions. You’re the point person for both clients and the internal team. You are responsible for building project schedules, keeping projects on budget, communicating effectively with clients, and participating in all meetings from kickoff to launch. You hold the tricky task of balancing the allegiance of your team with client satisfaction, not compromising too much on either’s vision.

What you’ll do

Project ownership 40%

  • Own projects from start to finish, translating big-picture goals into clear deliverables.
  • Build smart schedules and scopes of work—and keep them on track.
  • Allocate hours, monitor progress, and check in regularly with teammates.
  • Ensure every project meets high standards of design, usability, and accessibility.
  • Anticipate roadblocks before they become problems, and mitigate risks with ease.
  • Use Harvest, Forecast, and Google Sheets fluently.
  • Manage client expectations thoughtfully, identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships along the way.

Scheduling & Forecasting 20%

  • Accurately forecast team bandwidth across Designers, Strategists, Developers, and Directors.
  • Keep schedules updated as project plans evolve.

Budgets 20%

  • Keep projects on budget by setting realistic timelines and managing expectations.
  • Monitor team time-tracking and adjust as needed.
  • Plan and maintain project budgets with a close eye on efficiency.

People Management 20%

  • Adapt your style to meet different teammates and clients where they are.
  • Build trust, rapport, and confidence through clear, empathetic communication.
  • Celebrate wins and recognize contributions, big and small.

Who you are

  • Calm and composed. You bring maturity to client interactions, making them feel that everything is under control.
  • Independent thinker. You take initiative and move things forward without waiting to be told.
  • Excellent communicator. You express yourself clearly—both in writing and in conversation.
  • A self-starter. You’re action-oriented, full of energy, and quick to seize opportunities.
  • A relationship builder. You’re personable, approachable, and skilled at diffusing tension.
  • Adaptable. Ambiguity doesn’t rattle you—you know when to take risks and when to hold steady.
  • Digitally fluent. You’re comfortable experimenting with AI to improve workflows and understand branding, digital design, UX, and development.
  • Confident with leadership. You can push back tactfully and keep conversations constructive.
  • Meticulously organized. You love numbers, spreadsheets, color coding, and inbox zero.
  • Process-oriented. You’re always optimizing ways of working to help the team move smarter and faster.

Experience and skills of a competitive candidate

  • 4+ years of full-time work experience, at least 2 in project management.
  • Proven ability to juggle 5+ concurrent projects without dropping the ball.
  • Strong problem-solving, time management, and collaboration skills.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced, creative environments where smart design and strategic thinking matter.
  • A genuine interest in design and technology—and curiosity about what’s next.
  • The autonomy to lead projects and the humility to ask for help when needed.

Bonus if you:
  • Worked at other design/branding agencies
  • Understand the nonprofit/social impact sector and its dynamics.
  • Have experience collaborating with web developers.
  • Keep up with design trends and the branding process (strategy, verbal identity, visual identity).
