Part-time Product Manager
Hyperakt is looking for an experienced Product Manager to define the vision, manage, build, and launch a digital platform for an arts therapy initiative led by the National Endowment for the Arts.

Description of Role
Product Manager
Part-time (average 20hrs/week)
Location: NYC or Remote USA, Eastern Time Zone
Hyperakt is looking for a part-time Product Manager to lead the redesign of the Creative Forces National Resource Center (NRC), a digital resource that provides arts-centered therapy to veterans, their families, and caregivers. In this role, you will be responsible for defining a new vision for the product, aligning stakeholders around this vision, and channeling the work of partner agencies, client stakeholders, and internal designers towards the finish line.
This is an annual contract, with option to renew after every year, for up to 5 years.
Responsibilities of Role
Your high-level responsibilities in this role include:
Defining the vision, goals, and measures of success for the product
Conducting research including user interviews, product discovery, competitive analysis, etc.
Understanding and representing user needs
Aligning stakeholders around the vision and tactical decisions for the product
Prioritizing product features and capabilities
Managing and allocating limited resources (budget, time, etc.) to achieve project goals
Working closely with technologists, UX/UI designers, stakeholders, and developers to develop and ship the product
Required Skills
At least four (4) years of experience as a Product Manager of a cross-functional team
Experience running and/or shipping digital products, platforms, resources, etc.
Ability to generate very strong product plans and build buy-in across the team, government partners, and other vendors
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical, user experience, and project management trade-offs; enthusiastic communicator
Strong bias towards action; ability to step up into team gaps and ambiguous situations to structure the team’s action plan
Ability to execute with incomplete information; great product instincts and an ability to create order from divergent needs
Ability to define a product objective, and logically reverse engineer the path and communications to achieve the objective
Ability to identify market trends and shifts that will affect product direction, and updating plans based on future expectations
An adaptive, empathetic, collaborative, and positive mindset
Bonus Skills
Experience building sitemaps, wireframes, and user experiences
Experience with working with government and/or nonprofit initiatives
Compensation and Benefits
This is a part-time role. We anticipate some weeks busier than others. Some weeks will allow you to put <10hr/week, and some will be busier with <30hr. We expect the work on average not to exceed more than 20 hrs of work. Work will begin in March, at which time we will provide a more detailed schedule of anticipated hours/week.
This role can be structured as follows:
Consultant: Part-time (average 20 hrs/week) freelance consultant with a year contract (with possibility of renewal for 5 years). Consultant will be paid at a rate of $50,000, paid bi-weekly over the year, with no additional benefits. You’re responsible for your health benefits; vacation and holidays are unpaid.

Employee: Part-time (average 20 hrs/week) employment with an annual salary of $40,000 and the following benefits:
Benefits: Health ($500/mo), dental ($50/mo), and vision ($5/mo) insurance with Aetna

Location: If you’re based in NYC that’s great, but we’re cool with remote work anywhere in the US, as long as you’re able to work east coast hours every day (Monday - Friday, 9:30am-6pm EST)

About Creative Forces
Creative Forces: NEA Military Healing Arts Network is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs that seeks to improve the health, well-being, and quality of life for military and veteran populations exposed to trauma, as well as their families and caregivers. The program places creative arts therapies at the core of patient-centered care at clinical sites throughout the country, including telehealth services, and increases access to community arts activities to promote health, well-being and quality of life for military service members, veterans, and their families and caregivers. Creative Forces is managed in partnership with Americans for the Arts, Civic Arts, the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, and Mid-America Arts Alliance.
Project Background
Hyperakt has been tasked with redesigning the National Resource Center. This work includes:
defining clear audience targets (in collaboration with other project partners, see below)
designing a more modern, user-centered experience
working alongside a development partner to bring the new product to life
overseeing the design/tech growth of the platform for the next five years
